I think that supermarkets should issue each person who shops there with eco freindly reusable bags (not plastic). When one ton of plastic bags is reused or recycled, the energy equivalent of 11 barrels of oil are saved. If we cut out plastic bags completley we would have alot more fuel.

Author: mumford1 Mar 26 2008 11:34AM
I think shops should stop giving plastic bags. We take our bags to the shop and use plastic boxes to put our shopping in.
Author: alzy Mar 7 2008 5:36PM
I think that people could be better about bringing eco friendly bags!

I think that people should take their own eco-friendly bags to the supermarkets and reuse them so that they don't have to pay for bags every time they shop and at the same time are reusing the bags. It's easier, cheaper, and better for the ecosystem!

I think that we should try to get eco-friendly bags for our shopping. If we are not provided with one or are being charged for one, try what my family do... We keep a few old ones, and take them back next time, and reuse them instead of collecting millions.

i think this is a good idea.. if the govenment make a law about this people will obay and it will work..stores like asdas tesco etc would make this idea work, but it migth not be as sucssesful...

Author: daniel1612 Sep 27 2007 5:31PM
It would cost the supermarkets lots of money to give people non-plastic bags, but i agree to your project.
Author: clair Aug 24 2007 11:20PM
as this carbon control project is being supported by Tesco, they should be the first supermarket to take action and charge for carrier bags. Show some bravery Tesco! :)
Author: clair Aug 24 2007 11:18PM
well, I think that if all major supermarkets agreed to stop giving away carrier bags and charged 5p for them, then we would soon start using our bags efficiently! When I went to France last year I got a shock when they charged for the bags- and then re-used them each time! Each supermarket is scared to be the first one to charge for bags incase they lose custom.

I think paper bags are entirely the best option. They are environmental friendly and good.
Author: b2006148 Jul 13 2007 2:25PM
I also think that this idea is a good one as I do think that you should be charged for the plastic a bag.

Author: .x.___Dani&&Frankii___.x. Jun 25 2007 11:56AM
Yeah, I think that's a good idea as it encourages people to re-use them! The Tescos down our road gives you bags that don't break very easily [like the New Look ones] every month or so.. xxx
Author: dancingshoes10000 Jun 25 2007 11:42AM
isn't they some supermarkets who award people reusing their bags.
Author: fizzysabz Jun 22 2007 4:48PM
hey i agree i fink dat peopl should be charged for bags aleast 5p and if they bring their own bags or a re-usable 1 they shud get mony bak 5p !!!
Author: xi-dnt-rock-i-emox Jun 22 2007 12:07PM
haii i agree too .. so many animals get killed by choking and suffocating from plastic bags .. it also destroys the look of the earth and makes it so unattractive..bags shuld be invented so tht they can be used for years and years..i dnt mean a normal recycling bag i mean a bag made from something totally different tht wont ever ever harm anything .. xx alex xx
Author: Emily Jun 22 2007 11:51AM
hello i agree plastic bags are destroying the environment along with a lot of thigs if we all chipped in and re used them then plastic bags wouldnt be as big issue as it is now. my mum does re use hers so everyone try and get your mums or just yourself to re use them!
Author: marley Jun 22 2007 11:45AM

Author: minibowe Jun 21 2007 2:53PM
people should be charged 4 there plastic bag . when i was in ireland they charge 15cents for a plastic bag the government of ireland saw a big differants in the littering if plastick bags
Author: Hamilton Jun 19 2007 11:04AM
I think the point is that plastic bags give off cO2 during their manufacture as would any process to manufacture, paper or otherwise, we are just in a lazy disposable culture creating unnecessary waste, the only way is to ban disposable plastic bags from all shops as the French have done, peoples habits will soon change once they realise they have to reuse their bags, or keep buying more, or just stop shopping?

I Like The Fact That They Are Now Doing CLOTHES That Are Made And Help The Planet! BAGS CAN BE RE-USED. And Places Like ASDA Do LETS-HELP-THE-PLANET-GREEN-BAGS. So Plastic Is A Waste..But Wat Else Should It Be Used For?
Author: Maddie Jun 19 2007 9:43AM
what do you want to make these bags out of?? if they were paper or something they would just break!!
Author: Wil Jun 19 2007 9:40AM
